Meridian wins $3 million West Plains building project

Enduris insurance co-op to occupy office structure set for Technology Park

December 16, 2010
Mike McLean

Meridian Construction Inc., of Spokane Valley, says it has won a $3 million contract to erect an office building on the West Plains for Enduris Washington.

Meridian owner Mark D'Agostino says the company expects to begin construction of the single-story, 24,500-square-foot structure this winter and to complete the project in six to eight months.

The building will be developed on 3.5 acres of land at 1810 Technology Blvd., a few blocks south of U.S. 2 in the Pacific Northwest Technology Park. The structure will include wood-and-steel-frame construction, and its exterior will include masonry and cultured stone, D'Agostino says.

OMS Inc., of Spokane, designed the project, and Dowers Commercial Real Estate Group, of Spokane, is the project manager. The Coeur d'Alene office of Moscow, Idaho-based BCL Electric Inc. is the electrical subcontractor on the project.

Enduris is a government cooperative that buys insurance and manages claims on behalf of member agencies. The cooperative, which will own the building, currently leases smaller quarters in the Airport Office Center, at 5709 W. Sunset Highway, where it employs 12 people.

Enduris has said it will occupy half of the space in the planned building, and lease out the rest. The company's space there will include 9,000 square feet of office space and a 2,500-square-foot training room, D'Agostino says.

The cooperative includes nearly 450 government entities throughout Washington state that pool their resources to buy property and liability insurance at volume discounts, manage claims, and provide risk management services.
